Recently the largest of two clinical trials...England's United Kingdom (UKCTOCS) following more than 200,000 women monitored for 14 years has concluded that screening for ovarian cancer in asymptomatic women significantly reduces morbidity and mortality from the disease. This again confirms the enormous value of early detection before symptoms occur. These findings agree with the other ongoing large scale trial by the University of Kentucky. Bimodal screening with transvaginal ultrasound (TVS) and CA-125 blood testing are the time-honored methods utilized for early detection. Finding ovarian cancer in stage I and selected stage II before extensive spread yields a 95%+ cure rate with simple surgery WITHOUT the need for chemotherapy or radiation. TVS is simple, safe, painless, does NOT require a full bladder and is performed in the comfort of our office anytime and especially at your annual visit.

This screening method is now endorsed by Yale University, the University of Kentucky Medical Center, the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and others. False positive and false negative results are not a problem in experienced hands. Insurance generally covers screening and we have affordable discount payment programs for out of network, Kaiser, Western Advantage and uninsured patients.
